Carpenter and contractor for 30 yrs.Got a timber weatherboard job, a job I've done many times in the past but rarely do anymore. Called for timber weatherboard timber-timber weatherboard, which I haven't used before, so I did all the research I could in an attempt to be as efficient as possible. I started the job solo a couple of days before the timber weatherboard crew that was hired showed up. Got all my elevations and transferred all my course lines and went to work. I immediately found that the individual cladding varied in width by around 3/100mm, a discrepancy that adds up very quickly and would usually make it necessary to check layout constantly. However, because these CladLads clamp on rather than hang from the top of the previous course, they register from the bottom, which is the true course line. I was hitting my lines consistently, and felt the need to check layout much less ometeren.When the timber weatherboard crew showed up they rolled their eyes at my fancy green CladLads, but in less than an hour I could barely pry them out of their paws. Ended up selling to the lead guy for what I paid so he'd have them for his next job that Monday.I'll be buying another set.

This is best thing since sliced bread!! I needed to put timber weatherboard on my shop addition. I got some bids and then decided to attempt it my self since I have installed timber weatherboard before. Down here in Georgia, the only timber weatherboard that most codes allow is the timber type because of termites and bugs. This CladLad is designed for 8mm timber weatherboard . You first need to install the first course of timber weatherboard making sure it is level. Ameterer that you just slip the two CladLads under the first piece of timber weatherboard and slide the next row into the CladLad. I installed 4m lengths of timber weatherboard by myself using the CladLads. There are on line videos of the proper installation methods.

These CladLads work as they were intended to do, saved me time and kept my cladding spacing correct. The CladLads had no problem supporting the weight of the 230mm By 4 meters timber cladding. Nailing my cladding bottom and top together made for a tight holding CladLad fit. I used my hammer to tap my CladLads off and on . So far the CladLads have taken this abuse just fine. I did buy another set of CladLads so I could setup more than one board at a time to complet signal run. This allowed you to make correct ajustment before you start nailing. Safety wise, frees you up to do other things more freely and safely.

This has to be the most useful tool I have ever bought. I have used it constantly in the renovation of my home. My wife is terrified of heights and this tool allows me to hold up a 4 meter board while I nail it and provide proper spacing for the boards without utilizing a second person. The only problem I have encountered while using this product is that my boards are old and have been stored uncovered outside and have become brittle. There have been times when the lever that clamps the board had broken the board. This however does not happen ometeren and if the materials were new would not be an issue. It also works as an alert that if the board breaks it shouldn't be on the house. I will and have recommended this product to several friends and strangers in the local hardware store. I absolutely could not have completed the exterior of my house without this product!!

Being a life-long sceptic, I wasn't sure I needed these to complete my weatherboard project. Boy, was I wrong. They are invaluable whether you are weatherboard with a helper or by yourself. I had made some jigs to aid in maintaining a consistent reveal while installing the weatherboard, but they required that you hold the jig and the weatherboard, a tiring prospect, especially at the end of the day when you are 25 high on a ladder. So, despite the seemingly high price for these devices, I wouldn't look back in a second.
